It ALWAYS comes down to how committed the Owner is!
A committed 1st time owner is better than a lazy owner who has had GSDs "all their life", but won't give the dog the training, stimulation, & exercise to fulfill thier needs.
There's never a SINGLE thing, as all decisions come from the results of prior decisions, however, fir my comurrent dog, the best decision was to foster him. He was a BE case, so no one wanted to deal w/him.
My 2nd best may have been to "fail" by adopting him. 🤣

I fosterd & failed a "BE Case". After 2 years of daily training, he transformed from a reactive monster to a well-behaved companion & sport dog. We have a great time hiking, kayaking, training, & doing trials whenever we can!
The "best gear" is always whatever works for the dog & its handler. Each is a unique individual, so there will be individual differences in preferences. Whatever gear you do choose, make sure its the best QUALITY & a proper FIT. That way you'll enjoy many years of daily training w/your best...
