The Four Quadrants of Operant Conditioning and What They Mean For You and Your Pup: Part I

Are the first two examples positive punishment? You're adding a sensation/stimulation to decrease a behaviour? The third one is removing the stimulus to increase the behaviour. So that one I can see as negative reinforcement.

    What’s everyone feeding their GSDs?

I don't feed raw because I personally can't get over the cross contamination risk. My girl is currently on vet prescribed Hill's Gastrointestinal Biome. I've always fed WSAVA compliant brands which can be surprisingly controversial in forums. I put a lot of value in Science and research and...

    Tools for Reactivity?

Yes my interpretation is outlet is ensuring your dog's needs are met - both physically and mentally! Management is yes controlling the immediate environment and having strategies for when your dog is in a situation they can't handle yet on their own e.g. crossing the street, avoiding the...

    Tools for Reactivity?

Love it! Under the category of exposure I would also emphasize the importance of giving your dog the opportunity to make good decisions on their own. Whether it's cookie pushing or aversives, they are both ultimately distractions where your dog isn't given the opportunity to assess that the...

    Hello from Canada!

I never met him but I think he was between 80-85lbs? Now I'm unsure if it was more the dam's influence haha. Grandsire + dam and sire + dam both produced girls on average <60lbs

    Hello from Canada!

    Favorite Every Day Collar?

I have a 1.5" flat collar for my girl. It distributes the pressure better than a thinner collar when she pulls. If she's going through a pully phase I end up switching to a front-clip harness for a while. I personally don't use prongs because I know my communication would be sloppy and that...

    Hello from Canada!

Hi everyone! I spent a lot of time in GSD forums before getting my first GSD, but wow have I learnt so much since then and there is so much I'd change looking back. My girl is almost 3 years old and has been through quite a lot. A THR at 2 years old and gut issues that probably worsened her...
