Hello everyone,

I was brought hear from Reddit. I’m a first time dog owner to a 9 month old German Shepherd mix. I got her when she was 3 months old from someone who got her from someone who got her from someone 😵‍💫. It’s been a rough time and I won’t deny it has stressed me out being that I go to college full time and work part time. I sometimes get help from my family though I know they really don’t enjoy all too much. Never the less I try my best to give her the best care and attention a German shepherd requires. Hope to receive good advice from other owners.

Welcome! You made your way over here, sounds like you’ve had quite the journey with her already. Balancing school, work, and a young shepherd isn’t easy, but the fact that you’re putting in the effort says a lot. They can definitely test your patience at that age, but every bit of time and consistency pays off in the long run. She’s lucky to have someone who’s sticking it out and learning along the way. What is she mixed with?

I’m not sure. I will have to have her tested for that. I want to do that but I’m not exactly finically stable since I got injured back in August (been off work). And I had only started working like 1 month and a half prior to getting her.

Hang in there! I just adopted my first GSD. Def a lot of work but will pay off in the end. Post your struggles here so we can all support each other. I've been learning a lot in such short time. Best!

I made my first post about resource guarding and excited biting. Would appreciate some advice if you have experience.
