Really happy to be part of GSDHQ. I’m pretty new to the world of German Shepherds, so I’m here to learn as much as I can and share my little wins along the way.

My boy Rune is a 10 month old WL pup with more energy than I knew existed. His current hobbies include:
• chasing leaves like they’re ancient prophecies
• practicing accidental parkour in the living room
• and collecting sticks like rare artifacts

We’re both figuring things out one day at a time, so you’ll probably see me around asking beginner questions or posting quick updates from our training sessions. I try to keep things fun, I call Rune’s obedience practice our daily spells (today’s was Sit Still, Please. Success rate: 68%).

Welcome, Lil Wizard and hi Rune! Your intro made me laugh way harder than it should’ve “chasing leaves like ancient prophecies” might be the funniest descriptions of a working line puppy I’ve ever heard.

I love the whole spellcasting theme too, Sit Still with 68% effectiveness feels like peak WL chaos magic. Rune sounds like such a fun little whirlwind, and it’s awesome that you’re keeping the humor in all the learning.

Your intro had me smiling the whole way through, accidental parkour and ancient prophecy leaves feels way too accurate for a 10 month old WL pup. Rune sounds like he’s already deep into his magical apprenticeship.

Thanks Andre! Happy to be here. Rune’s current favorite activities are chasing leaves like they owe him money, and trying to convince me that every stick is a sacred relic. My favorite is honestly just training with him. It feels like we’re learning spells together.

Thank you, Enraa! Rune really does accidental parkour daily. Yesterday he bounced off the couch like he was testing gravity spells.

As for working line… honestly, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I met Rune’s litter, and he just locked eyes with me like he was choosing me, not the other way around. Only later did I learn WL pups come with bonus chaos energy. But he’s been amazing to learn with so far!

While sometimes the breeder can make astounding match ups... sometimes something more magical happens and the puppy chooses you! That's how you know it's meant to be I can't imagine the journey you both are having together! Can't wait to hear all about it throughout the forum!

Thank you, Enraa! Yeah, it really did feel like Rune picked me that day. I wasn’t ready for a WL whirlwind, but the little guy stared at me like he already knew our whole story. I’m excited to share more of our journey here, it’s been chaotic, hilarious, and really special so far.

What made you go Working Line as your very first?

When my dog was 10 mos, we were out at a park, and there was this 7 foot platform she was on top of, and I was on the ground. So, for shiggs, I asked her to jump off, thinking there is no way she would jump from such a high platform.

Anyways, she was on the ground next to me in a sit before I could blink. And that's the day I coined the phrase "When I say jump, Murphy asks how high, and then jumps ever so slightly higher than that."

GSD parkour is all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits.

Gosh I remember 10 month old puppies... Now my dog is 5 and terrifying if you never met her before.
