Yes, our Zenya was born with Mega Esophagus and has to eat upright and remain for 30 mins after eating so food goes into her stomach.

We have just added 20mg sildenafil (viagra) before each feeding to relax the sphincter into the stomach and allow food to go in and not pool in the esophagus. (It’s like wizards sleeve, to quote Borat)

She is 4.5 years old and has been a complete joy in our lives. She needs some extra care with the ME, and has episodes of sickness related to her condition. However, as long as her Quality of Life is good we will make her food by hand and feed her upright.

For the next set of questions…. Zenya is a ‘working dog’ and she travels with her mom for vet-tech and pet visits every day. She loves to be chased, hates squirrels, and ball Is life. Trained Certified Service Dog for DPT and Anxiety Management.

Here is a pic of Zenya, giving orders from her throne to the hoomans to bring more kibble.

Any other ME Parents here to share their journey?

That’s incredible dedication, Zenya’s lucky to have someone so dialed in. Managing ME takes patience and structure, and it sounds like you’ve built both into her routine beautifully.

Love that she’s still living a full working-dog life despite the extra care. That kind of drive and resilience says a lot about her genetics and your consistency.

Also, big respect for keeping her mentally engaged, so many forget how important that part is for dogs managing chronic conditions. Zenya looks like she knows she’s got the best setup possible.
