Hello from Colorado! This is Moose - he will be 4 in December which is a MAJOR miracle!

Moosey was born with 3 independent congenital cardiac conditions (his pulmonary artery is too small, his pulmonary valve is too big and stiff, and he has a FIVE chambered heart!) We were going to euthanize him around 4 months of age. We are SO lucky we live a stones throw from the best vet program in the US! CSU turns out more cardiologists than any other program in the country.

Moose is by far the happiest, sweetest dog I’ve ever had. He greets each day like it is a grand adventure and lives to the fullest. He has zero fear of the vets and vet hospitals…. as a matter of fact, this past spring the gal that checks oncology patients in found out Moose had been to Cardiology on her day off and contacted me to tell me how disappointed she was that she missed my boy! She sees thousands of dogs a year and that is the kind of impression Moose makes on the world. We could all learn from him!

He would be an awesome therapy dog, but I’m not sure his heart could tolerate the excitement he would experience on a daily basis.

Hi Zarra and Moose, welcome to the GSDHQ!

It truly sounds like a miracle that Moose made it through all that. I’m so glad to hear he’s doing well now. He’s clearly a fighter, living each day to the fullest and spreading positivity everywhere he goes. What an incredible spirit to have by your side (and to everyone lucky enough to meet him).

We’re really happy to have you both here with us!

Thank you! We are happy to be here. This is the greatest dog breed EVER.

Hey, I tried to edit my post to clean up an autocorrect mistake but can only edit the title… I know you are still working out the glitches… thanks!

Thanks, Andre! Got it and fixed it! You can read a bit about his crazy heart in the original comment now ❤️

Wow, Moose is incredible. What a story and what a spirit. You can just feel his joy through those photos. It’s amazing how dogs like him remind us to take on life with that same kind of gratitude and energy, no matter the obstacles.

Welcome, Zarra, we’re lucky to have you both here.

Oh my heart, Moose is amazing! What a little miracle pup. The fact that he’s not only thriving but lighting up everyone’s day along the way says so much. Those photos just radiate joy, you can practically feel his vibe through the screen! I love that he treats every day like an adventure. We could all use a bit of that Moose outlook on life.

So happy you both found your way here, he’s already making hearts melt in this thread!

Welcome Zarra! Wow, Moose sounds like an absolute legend. Five-chambered heart? That’s more heart than most of us have on Monday mornings. You can tell from those pictures he’s living life on his own terms, love that energy. Glad you both found your way here, we could all use a bit of that Moose spirit.
