Nah. Just goofing off with a pillow. I do have to get him on a sleeve more often though.Do NOT get on Bombers bad side. What a mouth! He looks like a very happy boy after all that work.
Were you guys on the bite sleeve today?
Do you backtie when you do solo sleeve?Nah. Just goofing off with a pillow. I do have to get him on a sleeve more often though.
Yes. Occasionally. I've been using the pillow and a 4" wide tug from Redline lately.Do you backtie when you do solo sleeve?
That’s awesome to hear about getting into protection work. Are you thinking IGP or more personal protection style?Yes. Occasionally. I've been using the pillow and a 4" wide tug from Redline lately.
I don't want to use the sleeve too often because I'm fairly certain I'm going to teach him protection and when the sleeve enters the equation I don't want him confused about the context. At least that's my initial thoughts on it. I could be wrong. I'm FAR from an expert on any of this stuff.
I've been considering getting a wedge. They are pretty stiff and develop a hard bite. I dunno, just thinking out loud I suppose.
Personal protection. That’s awesome to hear about getting into protection work. Are you thinking IGP or more personal protection style?
You and Bomber are going to be a really fun pair to follow here. If you ever start a training journal, I’d definitely enjoy reading along.
Cool! IGP definitely takes up a ton of time, and honestly, a lot of that time is just sitting around, which can be tough if you don’t have big blocks of free time.Personal protection.
I would love to try my hand at IGP but I don't think it's something I can dedicate the time to give the sport the work it deserves.
My Mondays through Fridays are insane. During the week there's days where I don't get much real training done at all. The IGP club local to me is a good hour drive away. It would be a lot.
I feel bad about it too. In the hands of a pro this dog would be a superstar.
BUT we're having a blast regardless and Bomber doesn't care as long as we're doing fun stuff together. At the end of the day he's a family dog first and foremost.
We have not done any scent work but it's on my bucket list for sure.Cool! IGP definitely takes up a ton of time, and honestly, a lot of that time is just sitting around, which can be tough if you don’t have big blocks of free time.
I wouldn’t feel bad about it at all. You’re giving Bomber great outlets to bite, bark, and use his brain. Have you guys explored scent work? He’s clearly living the good life.
Having fun and exploring with your dog is what really matters in my book.
Yeah, his bite is strongThat bite work pays off, you can see the power in his jawline. It’s wild how much conditioning they get just from grip strength and targeting practice.
