honestly i never thought i could love a dog this much. ive always been a cat person, since i was little. ive only had cats of my own
my first reason to get a dog was, why not? my parents have had one, and even though she was incredibly annoying to me, i loved her.
we had a german shepherd when i was little, she was incredibly well behaved and was amazing first memories as a child, but for me this much commitment was very hard, especially from cats.
when i first got him, the first thing i thought was “what have i done?” i have no freedom, more stress and commitment and less intact shoes to wear, i was stressed out,
but all the moments with him, his excitement and love is nothing ive experienced, his intelligence and loyalty made me love him more and more even though he made me lose hours of sleep 😭
seeing him grow up has made my heart ache more than ever before, i didnt know it would happen so quickly, and so dramatically!
my cats that ive had for half my life and are fully grown are half his size and weight at just 12 weeks!
this community has really brought out my love for him, while i still dont consider myself a dog person, i now consider myself an animal person
i love silently reading all your posts, seeing all your dogs, hearing all your stories, ive never felt so excited! everyones stories are just incredible and every dog is so unique and sweet
while i dont post everyday, i come here everyday just to see the happiness of everyone here
thanks so much gsdhq community!
and enjoy my little fritzy as much as i love him

I feel exactly where you're coming from. I didn't realize how much I would love Chase until it hit me one day that he already is as important to me as my rescue dog I've known for like a decade.

Communities like this are awesome, yet rare, but we all have one! I love that we all are out here rooting for each other's successes, laughing with each other over the sillies, exploding with second hand joy for one another... It makes everything feel so much more exciting! And that's not even touching the advice you get!

This was really great to read. It’s wild how a dog can flip your whole world upside down in the best possible way. The commitment is real, but so is the payoff, watching them grow, learn, and bond with you hits on a level nothing else does. You’re doing an awesome job with Fritzy, and it shows. Glad you’re here with us.
