This QOTW has a festive twist as we are getting into the holiday season. Huge thanks once again to German Shepherd Coffee Company for continuing to support GSDHQ and helping us spread some holiday cheer!

About the Sponsor

German Shepherd Coffee Company is an animal-loving, rescue-supporting brand that donates 20% of all profits from their coffee, tea, treats, and merch to 300+ animal rescues across the USA. An incredible mission backed by genuinely great people.

For this week’s QOTW, they’ve generously offered a bag of dog treats as the prize, perfect for spoiling a pup this holiday season.

This Week’s Question

“What does the holiday season look like for you and your dog?”

A few ideas to get you thinking:
  • Do you have any holiday traditions with your dog?
  • Is this your first winter or Christmas with a GSD?
  • Favourite winter activities: snow zoomies, cozy nights in, long walks?
  • Festive or winter-themed photos
  • Don’t have a dog yet? Share what you hope future holidays with one might look like or simply tell us what the holidays mean to you this time of year.
Serious, funny, cozy, or heartfelt, all answers are welcome.

How It Works

  • Staff will choose a winner on Thursday, December 26th
  • Likes help, but aren’t the main deciding factor
  • Winner gets to hold the QOTW Trophy Badge

Christmas is all about coziness and closeness in our home. We celebrate the holidays with the dogs and then travel home to see family in January once things have calmed down. This is primarily based on the industries we both work in. On Christmas morning the dogs each get a stocking full of goodies (pizzle sticks, some sort of chew and a stuffy) and then my husband and I exchange gifts. It’s calm, it’s quiet and it’s full of love!

For me, the holidays are really just about spending time together and being grateful to share my life with him. He is my best friend, so I just want to share this joyous time with him and make sure he has the most fun possible!

However, I do have a special tradition. While I am constantly trying to improve their quality of life throughout the year, christmas is when I really try to go all out and level up one aspect of their care. It’s sort of my early New Year's resolution for the dogs.

This year, the goal is overhauling his grooming, and be able to do it fully at home. I stocked up on a ton of new gear. new shampoo and conditioner, color enhancing products, high quality brushes, nice slicker spray, doggie cologne, and new stuff for nail care and teeth cleaning. I even splurged on a high quality force dryer!

It’s not Christmas yet though, so nobody tell him!

It's Chasey's first Christmas, so while my family and I don't do celebrate other than a big family meal because star holiday (no gift exchange or anything), we always go all out for Brodie, and of course now Chase.

So far he is a snow dog, absolutely loves the snow but is SO SAD when it melts with the rain.

He is loving the whole vibe and I can't wait to see what Christmas is going to look like for him!

The only special thing we do for Christmas is giving the puppers extra treats! I am very boring over here 🤣
