Right ranking alone, but health, temperament, etc. It’s a pretty significant jump of over 20%, and it would make me pause. A sire’s ranking alone isn’t enough to justify that kind of price increase by itself, not to me at least.
I’ve seen show-line breeders bump prices mainly for “marketing” reasons before, like when a dog earned publicity or exposure.
It's hard to say, I haven't seen what tests the breeder has done or met the dogs. My comment was in regard to raising the price of the litter because of the sire's placing. I am not sure what the average price in your area is, but here I see pups going for around $3500-$4000 CAD. Just for reference, I spoke to a breeder last year who had beautiful West German Showlines that won the German Sieger, and he charged the same amount for all litters.Right ranking alone, but health, temperament, etc.
No, simply a true companion dog. Though when I asked for references, all she did was link Google and her testimonial page. Which wasn't what I meant. She wants a conversation about my needs. Which is the higher priority references or needs? It's hard to say, I haven't seen what tests the breeder has done or met the dogs. Do you plan on showing your dog when the time comes?
I've never asked for references before, I've just looked at reviews + asked the breeder questions. The breeder asking you about your needs is a good thing; they can decide if a puppy from the pairing is right for you, or how to choose the right pup in the litter, etc. That question is all about how the breeder can best match you with a pup.No, simply a true companion dog. Right but a serious puppy buyer would ask for references. If the breeder refuses, that would be a red flag, "stating inappropriate. to give out client's information." The breeder got nothing to hide, if every information she says is the actual case not opposite. Of course she ask permission first, I have no intention crossing boundaries.I've never asked for references before, I've just looked at reviews + asked the breeder questions. It's not really about what has higher priority; it's about what makes you feel comfortable. If I were you, I'd visit a few different breeders, meet their dogs, ask questions in person, and see how things feel, then go from there.
It is inappropriate to give out client information. I would be so mad if my breeder gave my phone number to some random person as a reference.Right but a serious puppy buyer would ask for references.
