My dog will be 10 months old in a few days. Despite his larger then life size and personality, he's still very much a puppy. He still has that exuberant puppy energy and periodic lack of impulse control.

My in-law visited tonight. She hasn't been at the house in a few months and we don't get visitors to begin with. I was certain that my dog would have lost his mind apon seeing company.

When my in-law showed up and got settled in, I took Bomber out of his kennel and let him say hello, while on a leash. He was definitely excited and needed his leash for the first few minutes or so. BUT he was really good and relaxed quickly. He was affectionate but not overbearing. Everyone was surprised that he didn't try to run her over. LOL!

I was pleasantly surprised. It's a small win and I'll take it.

That’s awesome, man. Those little “didn’t tackle the guest” moments feel huge. Sounds like Bomber’s starting to find that balance between muscle and manners!

Thats quite a moment you're living; my gsd started to change her behavior A LOT around the 10 month and on; as someone who gives quite a social life to my dog, it is time to pay attention day by day on your gsds behavior because sometimes it feels like it changes overnight

10 months old? SMALL WIN? That's HUGE.

I always tell people that large dogs do not get the same grace as smaller dogs. This is a skill he will need for the rest of his life, and a skill that so many people do not teach their dog, either out of ignorance or apathy. I love to see a well-trained dog.
