So I've been on vacation the last week and a half. Rules have been a little lax, Chase has been perpetually free-roaming, and he finally managed to sneak a piece of something neither of the two dogs have ever been allowed - chicken.
The cockapoo senior is confirmed allergic to poultry, so to keep things nice and easy I just kept Chase off of poultry as well so there were no cross-contamination issues. Turns out, Chase is also allergic to chicken! Following a bite of food he stole yesterday (obviously our next training but will be around food and counter-surfing) he woke up COVERED in these little red bumps.
He didn't have this yesterday, so it was pretty clear what the culprit was. The good news is because the cockapoo has sebborhea and perpetual skin issues ANYWAY, we already had hot spot spray to treat it. He's a lot less itchy and a lot happier, and now there's a lot stricter of protocol for poultry.
Figured I'd share this since the allergy is so common. It's not often you have EXACT confirmation of what caused a breakout like this, so maybe this will be useful for someone else who has this crop up on their puppy one morning.
