I would recommend using a dog shampoo that is ph balanced. Like oat and aloe shampoo
GSD skin needs are different than humans’
Dogs — including German Shepherds — have a different skin pH than humans, and products made for people (even “gentle” baby shampoos) can disrupt their skin barrier, dry out the skin, or cause irritation. Vet experts recommend using shampoos specifically formulated for dogs to keep the skin healthy.
2. Oatmeal helps soothe and moisturize
Colloidal oatmeal is known for its anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties. It can help calm itchiness, dryness, flakiness, and irritation, which a lot of German Shepherds are prone to because of their thick double coat and sensitivity to allergens.
3. Aloe supports healing & hydration
Aloe vera not only helps cool and soothe irritated skin, it also supports healing and moisture retention — which means less scratching and a softer, healthier coat after bathing.
4. Gentle, dog-specific cleansing protects the skin barrier
Shampoos like this one use plant-based, soap-free cleansers that clean without stripping the skin’s natural protective oils. That’s important because stripping those oils can make a dog’s skin worse, not better.
5. Great for sensitive or allergy-prone dogs
Many German Shepherds have sensitive or reactive skin (seasonal allergies, hot spots, irritation from grass/pollen, etc.). An oatmeal + aloe formula can provide comfort and itch relief that regular detergents or strong chemical shampoos can’t.
