When it comes to my little senior dog I pretty much have my favorites down, but I have no idea what shampoo to use for my GSD.

I've tried the Earth-Rated Double Coat shampoo but the smell doesn't really sit well after a day. He ends up smelling really sour.

What have you all had good results with?

I’ve had wonderful experiences with a micro-brand from a YouTuber (Girl with the Dogs and Girl with the Dogs 2) named Vanessa. Her “Fluff Off” de-shedding and “Nasty Critter” shampoos and conditioners are awesome. The are available on Amazon and her site directly.

I've definitely watched their stuff before and love when it's natural vs all chemical. I did notice that you need to dilute that one and I definitely have not ventured that far into grooming tools, so I'll pin that one as a long-term solution lol

Just to be clear dilution is not required. Fluff Off can dilute to 16:1 and Nasty Critter to 50:1 if needed. I think that’s more when you are using some sort of dispenser like she does. I just put it in my hand and scrub it in on the wet dog. I guess diluting would save me some money over time but I don’t worry about it.

Oh that changes things then! Which one over the other would you recommend coming into winter months?

I don’t think of them as seasonal. Since the breed sheds as much as they do I use the “Fluff Off” at every bath and the “Nasty Critter” every other time. She doesn’t get that dirty so it’s not needed often.

I use the arm and hammer stuff. It's OK. My dog trainer friend has some concentrate stuff I wish I had. He buys it in bulk, but I don't know what its called.
